Emma Ruse Productions are casting for an upcoming Research & Development of a new show by Ellen Bradbury about queer safe spaces, bisexuality and and standing up for what is right. This project will be directed by Emma Ruse, and produced by ERP in association with Ella Hällgren.

We’re looking for 2 performers to take part in the rehearsal and development stage who:

  • Enjoy working with new writing, exploring character and story.

  • Will be willing to play and explore in a room.

  • Are based within commuting distance of Glasgow.

As this play explores queerness, and in particular bisexuality, we are particularly interested in hearing from bisexual and LGBTQ+ performers for these roles.

The Project:

Project Dates:

  • R&D week 1: 24th – 28th March 2025 (Glasgow)

Travel support is available.

Project Fee: £694.83

Which breaks down to:

  • £620/week for the R&D

  • £74.83 of Holiday Pay at 12.07%

The Roles:

(The below details are the identities for the characters, we are open to seeing performers of any gender for any role as long as they are able to portray the character).

1. Lucy (mid-late 20s, woman)

She’s a bold, confident go-getter type. She seems self-assured; she has a 5-year plan that she intends to stick to at all costs. This exterior covers the fact that she feels really uncertain about herself and her identity and isn’t sure what she wants to do or who she wants to be. If she has a plan and sticks to it, she’ll never need to consider if it’s right or not. She doesn’t think about things deeply and is good at suppressing in order to get on with life.

2. Daniel (mid-late 20s, man)

Daniel wears his heart on his sleeve; his sense of loss and confusion is abundantly clear from one look at him. From his career path to his hobbies and everything in between, he’s never been very sure about who he is and he has felt alienated by typical tropes of masculinity. He now finds himself wandering through life, clinging to any connection or experience that might help him to understand what life is supposed to feel like.
