Emma initially trained as an actor at Performing Arts Studio Scotland from 2015-2018. Upon graduation she co-founded Framework Theatre Company, producing a show in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival that year.

As Framework Theatre's reputation has grown, Emma has driven the strategic vision of the company; designing and leading the organisations work. At the same time, she completed industry-based placements with Vanishing Point, Horsecross Perth and Jermyn Street Theatre in order to up-skill within producing, and also gained a qualification in Marketing and PR for the Creative Industries from Guildhall.

As a creator, Emma is primarily interested in  directing and has  worked with Scottish Youth Theatre, Little Britches Theatre Company and Framework to do so.  Her practice is based in female and queer-led narratives, exploring rhythm, ensemble and politics.

Emma is also a passionate activist, and has been a member of the National Youth Arts Advisory Group since 2014. They were also a member of Communic18 throughout the Year of Young People. Emma has worked closely with Creative Scotland and the Scottish Government to champion the voices of young people in Scotland, also working as a funder and policy-maker.
